Discussion: manual transmission driving tips Posted by iveand [Email] (#3155) [Profile/Gallery] (more from iveand) on Mon, 20 Feb 2006 13:37:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am looking for a "new" saab: either a late model 9000 or early model 9-5 wagon. I *LIKE* driving a manual, but am wondering more and more about how it has been handled in the past. What are the problems that people can introduce into a manual transmission either through inadvertent lack of knowledge or intentional misuse?
I know to not leave in the clutch in while stopped, and I don't downshift too heavily, but do use it to ease braking somewhat. I don't shift up hard and fast, but give it time to find its gear. Where can I get a list of preferred manual driving techniques beyond this in order to be kind to the car and be able to evaluate if others have been kind as well?
thanks
