Saab Leasing and sales tax Posted by galaynta [Email] (#3118) [Profile/Gallery] (more from galaynta) on Fri, 3 Mar 2006 09:02:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I leased my 93 through Saab leasing. I leased the car when I was living in Maryland and have since moved to Florida. When I notified Saab that I had moved, they increased my monthly lease by $33 to cover Florida sales tax. I had already paid sales tax in Maryland when I first registered the car there.
Today, when I went to the local Tax Collector's office to get Florida plates, I was told that they do not collect sales tax on leased vehicles. Saab Leasing is insistent that I owe the extra money and threatened my credit rating if I do not pay it, which I have been doing for some months now.
I filed a complaint with the Florida AG office today, but was wondering if anybody had any similar experiences or could shed any light on what's going on?
