I presume you've read or can find a copy of the MSDS [material safety data sheet] on sodium azide. I've always considered these as sodium azide bags, not 'air' bags. As is the case with most hazardous substances, it's better to re-use or recycle. There seems to be an active market for used ones, anyway. I would think the best 'disposal' would be to trigger the bag so the chemical and physical hazards are neutralized.
