I expect one head, i.e. one of the two processors in the AMD64X2 3800+ to be faster than an AMD64 3200+. In my tests, including swapping different memory modules between the two machines still points to a slower benchmark on the average in the AMD64X2 in single processor mode.
Both machines have onboard graphics the newer machine has a better chip set so it performs a hair better in PCMark05. Otherwise, two are close to having the same performance.
However, I have to admit for the money, the Acer Aspire machines are very well built. The CPU case, Acer motherboard, and power supply is much better than anything on the mass market. They don't give you a modem, which I think is somewhat useless these days. The keyboard and mouse are subpar however.
