Just replaced regulator on my '01 9-3

Last week a friend rolled down the passenger rear window on my 9-3. On the way up, it popped.
As a result, I realized that not everything in a Saab is engineered well.
What broke? A tiny (1" x 1/4" x 1.5"?) piece of plastic. This piece of plastic, unfortunately, is integrated into the Saab regulator AND motor assembly. So for this, at best, $5 part, Saab wanted $350 at the dealership for the entire assembly!
This was incredibly frustrating for two reasons - first, that window had hardly ever been used - so the part simply failed, I'm guessing, due to the wonderful Texas heat I've been subjecting it to. Second, that the entire assembly had to be removed (and it was riveted, not screwed - thanks Saab) and then reinstalled. I was able to buy it used after digging around for wrecking yards in Austin. Still paid too much, but at least it was better than getting reamed at retail.
My only concern is it feels like there's something wrong with the assembly. That is, the metal channel along the bottom of the window accepts the regulator - but all my assembly came with is a round metal tip - it looks like there should be some plastic snap/bearing/seal or something to integrate the two... did I not get a part I should have at the yard? Anyone?
Thanks... and sorry for the rant.
