I used to live in Shreveport, LA after the dealer dropped Saab but before they were picked up again a several years later. I had a recall on my car. I wrote to Saab. They said they would pay for the recall to be done at an independent garage but would not warranty their work and suggested that if it wasn't done right, I would be on my own. It was a simple replacement of a part and was done right. The main mechanic of the independent shop said that he drove and work on his own Saab until recently.

Of course, Saab may not do this now because the above happened 10 years ago.
