Hey Saabpilot,
Not a Manhattanite but...lived there bout 10 years ago and spend lots of time there for my current and last job.
If you have a hotel in midtown call and see if they have a parking garage below or if they have a relationship with one close by. Sometimes can catch a little break on the price with a validated ticket from a hotel. Plan on spending around $35-$40 to park that length of time in midtown. Most parking garages "do" take credit cards. There are lots of smaller lots around town...mostly around the edges (extreme east and west side) that do not take credit cards. You'll see them...the ones that are mostly open and sandwiched in between buildings. These are the ones to avoid if you want to use your CC.
Good for you your late afternoon is by Penn Plaza. Very close to the entrance to the Lincoln tunnel. Plenty of parking over there. Try and find one as close as possible to the tunnel for ease of exit.
Keep in mind the time it can take to get around in Manhattan! Leave in plenty of time to make your meeting. Remember....it will take the parking attendant at least 10 minutes to take your payment and retrieve your car. Then you have to put your stuff in the car, fight traffic to next destination, unpack car and find your next address. Also, most if not all large office buildings in Manhattan now have lots and lots of security....so plan on a few extra minutes getting through that and up to the destination office.
Business moves so fast in Manhattan because it takes forever to get somewhere there. Have to make up that time somehow!
Have fun!
