rotating tires is a cheapskate way to extend tire life

...and it's so you can buy 4 tires at once rather than have to buy 2 front tires of the same model as the rear.

Rotating tires because of bad alignment is just covering up and delaying the problem. Your new tires will suffer the same punishment and will cup, too.

I rotate the first set of tires because I want the OEM tires to wear out at the same time then I replace them with 4 tires of the model that I want. Thereafter, I don't rotate tires 'cuz it tells me when stuff is going wrong. When the better tires that I selected has 2 front tires that are worn out, I buy 2 tires of the same model as the rear. Usually when the front are worn again, it's time for the rears to be replaced.
