Me & my co-worker got into a discussion bout the best hockey team of all-time. He was a die-hard Islander fan, myself an Oiler fan. Being a few years older than him, I reminded him the Canadiens of Montreal were the undisputedly the best of all time. So we used 1970 and after as modern era. Now things became more interesting. Does winning more Cups make a team the best? Perhaps. Does winning more consecutive cups make one the best, as Borg in tennis? Perhaps. We used all these factors (playoff games, including cup games), to see who was the best: Wins minus losses. Points for minus points against. Penalized for non-goal during power play. The Islanders were close to being the best going for their "Drive for 5", however the Oilers & Wayne prevalied. Recently, a dominanting team has yet to resurface. Naturally, since I live now in NC, I want the hurricanes to win thier 1st cup. But they will win, because they are at the top of thier game, and will seize the moment, as they did against hockeys all-time best the canadiens. ANYONE FOR TENNIS? You won't believe what "gizmo", computer program , states who the best modern tennis player of all time is? Sampras? Borg? McEnroe? Connors? Aggassi? Gizmo says a case CAN be made as to why ALL of these could be considered as best ?
