I bought a slightly used Honda mower last fall. After running about 1/2 dozen times, I stored it for the winter, I drained the tank, but didn't run the motor dry. This season, when I brought it out it runs poorly. It is very hard to start, and I have to idle it a good 3-5 mins before I engage the blades otherwise it stalls. Even after this, it constantly hunts for an idle when the blades are disengaged.
The dealer told me that this is common with ethanol in the gas. Dealer said my carburetor is gunked up because of the ethanol in the gas and I need to get it cleaned out. In MN, we always have ethanol blended into the gas. Next year I need to either put some Seafoam before I store it, or I need to make sure I run it dry. Even then, the dealer told me it may not help, just one of the trade-offs w/ ethanol in the gas and the newer mowers.
