Really not a practical matter

The only place it may make a real difference is at highway speeds, maybe 50 and up, certainly 70 and up, where the added drag of having windows down instead of A/C on may have an impact. But add a wrinkle do you have the back windows up or down? And is the sunroof open or closed?
If it is 90 degrees and humid, is saving 1 or 2 MPG worth it on, say, a 4 or 5 hour trip? Or over a whole day? It works out to a couple of gallons on a fill up, or $6 and change. Is being more comfortable, able to hear your stereo, use the phone, talk easily with a passenger at 75 mph on a long ride worth a few extra dollars?
Around town there are so many variables-- # of stoplights, amount of traffic, how hard you accelerate that it would be hard to say how much more or less your mileage is with or w/out A/C.
