I always think I should write down the current mileage when I take my cars in for service (just in case, right?) but never actually do. While this story is an extreme example, it makes me think I'll follow through next time.

PS, anyone else read Jalopnik on a regular basis? I liked it at first, but I've been more than a little turned off by their fan-boyish coverage of Bullrun. Yeah, a Gallardo or a Ford GT is a cool car, but fawning up-to-the minute coverage of a gang of rich dinks weaving in and out of freeway traffic at 140 and behaving like general asshats is disappointing. Particularly so when coming from a blog that paid such extensive lip service to the Cali lake bed DIY 1950's hot rod ethic, the antithesis of something like the Bullrun. Guess it is tough to go back to PBR after tasting Clicquot.
