LOL, I hear this sentimate here all of the time. I am 41 years old and have owned many GM cars/trucks over the years as did my father and my brothers and I just don't understand the "quality" complaint. Each of the cars my family has owned has reached at least 100,000 miles with little problems. My 1990 Chevy Truck reached 250,000 miles before I retired it.
Quality is what you make of it. Are you talking about quality as reliability? If so, then see the upper paragraph, GM does well here. If you are talking about quality as fit and finish, then you need to consider what you are looking at. GM has always tried to make a car that is fairly reliable within a price range that everyone can buy. This means that fit and finish isn't going to measure up to some other upscale company, but is satisfactory for Joe Schmoe that lives on Elm Street.
Personally, I like GM cars and trucks, they serve their purpose and are built for that purpose. With that said, however, I do agree that they need to pay more attention to fit and finish where Saab is concerned, especially if they want to compete with higher market brands.
