As the others have said, Connecticut is thick with Saabs. About the only area I've seen with as many is the Boston area. If you go under the idea that Subuaru was the car of choice in Vermont, as you move south to Connecticut, we move upscale into Saabs and Volvos. Connecticut is also thick with Saab dealers - Greenwich, Westport, Milford, Guilford (near Saybrook), New London - and that's only the coast. Inland is East Hartford, Danbury, and Simsbury. There used to be a Saab dealer in Old Saybrook and one in Meriden. Given that the state is 100 miles across on the longest axis, this is pretty good. There are Saab dealers within 15 miles of each other. You'd think they were Chevys.
Many of the CT shore towns are pretty pricey (OK, they all are - some are much more pricey than others), and there is a decent amount of old money. That attracts more Mercedes and Saabs than Caddys. I'll agree that Old Saybrook has a lot of Saabs. It seems to me that Guilford has the largest number in one small area. Guilford also has a very good dealership (strangely named 'Guilford Saab') that has been around forever. But the rest of the state is pretty full.
Connecticut has the highest per-capita income in the US - usually jockying with New Jersey (go figure). Lots of money means more expensive cars, and Saabs fall into that realm. I agree, compared to the rest of the country we've got a lot. But I live here, and it just seems normal to me.
