Which means very little air. You turn on the faucet, the little bit of air is enough to push some water but then the pressure drops because there's so little air and the pump kicks on. Turn the pump off, open a faucet and put an air hose on the tank. You want to use the air hose to force out most, but not all, of the water. If you drain too much, you'll hear gurgling in the tank and have air/water coming out of the faucet. If this happens, turn on the pump for about 30 seconds. That should put 5-10 gallons back in the tank. Finally, with pump off, charge the nearly empty tank to approx. 3 lbs. less than the normally turn on pressure. So if you have the pump set to run from 40-60 lbs, precharge the tank to 37#. Essentially you want a big air piston to push the water through the house. Air compresses but water doesn't. So when the pump runs, it puts water into the tank and compresses the air up to 60#. The air will push the water through the house until it drops down to 40 and the pump kicks on. That's why the precharge has to be below the 40, otherwise the pump won't turn on. If the bladder is shot, it's not a huge deal. It mainly keeps the water and air separated so the water doesn't become oxegenated which can cause more visible iron.
