There is no question that GM treated Saab as a stepchild for much of its initial partial ownership period. However, once GM acquired full ownership, more attention was directed to assisting the marque achieve wider marketability and acceptability. Saab Euopean sales (UK & Sweeden especially) have begun to take off.

There is also no question that this effort has not been without challenges (i.e., the teething problems in the current 9-3). But, given a little more time, and at least a partial resolution to its labor and legacy costs, GM is fully capable of lifting the Saab brand past Volvo and Audi, which is where I think they visualize it.(MB & BMW aren't really realistic targets even in the long term.)

I'm not a true believer yet, but I haven't given up hope.
