by the fact that this particular model was in limited quantity and is considered 'rare'. There's probably a reason for the limited quantity ie lack of demand at the time. And unless you plan to somehow race the car (ie rally car or track), its design is the least practical of the 3 models and i'd call it more of an oddity than a'collector'.
personally i've sunk probably 4 gr and a hell of a lot of time into a 86 Notchback 16vNA conversion to 16vTurbo (complete remachine and rebuild of stock 2.0l engine, tranny swap, total suspension restoration including all control arm bushings, etc. and there is no way the car would fetch that kind of money from even the most devoted warped Saab fan, and it still needs a paint job!
the fact that yours is an 8valver is even less appealing as it cant really accept a 16v engine without a heck of alot of modifcation/swapping.
if it has rust on the underbody, its days are numbered. As my mechanic told a friend of his 88 SPG with severe underbody rust, '...Just drive it'.
