Well,
I am open to options. I know my dollars are short so I would go with either. It would also depend on the particular industry. This business in particular I feel I could run on my own, so I would rather have an investor, or even a nonworking equity partner. (e.g. 40% of business for investment or something).
I really don't initially like the idea of a partner, but I am not entirely negative on the idea. I have run a small business before (part time web design firm) but this isn't even close to the scope of what i am looking at. I have an MBA from Bentley in Entrepreneurship and have written business plans before and have a binder 3" thick full of ideas for products or services. I just have ADHD I think so bad I can't focus on one idea for too long!
I don't know about writing a business plan for an existing business purchase. If the deal falls through you are talking a lot of work for that. I would prefer the person selling the business has a business plan (they really should!) and then I could do some due diligance research on what is in their and maybe come up with my own pro formas, etc.
I really feel like I have everything in line to go with a business, except financing.
