I'll see if I can find a website with pictures. But for now...
Do you have a puller to remove the crank arms from the spindle (axle)? The bolt holding the arm to the spindle is right-hand threaded on both sides. The crank puller threads into the dust-cap threads & pushes on the end of the spindle.
Now you have to get the bottom bracket apart.
Left side - adjustable cup. Right-hand threads. You'll need a wrench in the form of a hook to loosen the locking ring. With that off, the bearing cup unscrews. That leaves the spindle free to come out. The bearings are probably in cages, so you don't have to worry about loose balls.
Fixed-cup on the right side of the bike is installed with left-hand threads. That's usually got 2 flats for a wrench.
When you buy your new BB set, be aware of english/italian/french threading. Sometimes they're so close to each other that they sorta fit, but then tightening them does the damage.
Also be aware that your crank arms would require a particular length of spindle, so take the old spindle & a crank along when you shop.
