I've had Progressive for a long time Posted by Caarma [Email] (#592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Caarma) on Fri, 17 Nov 2006 19:11:06 In Reply to: I lowered my auto insurance by 63%, Rod [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 17 Nov 2006 12:28:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
And I haven't found any rates that were even close to competitive to what I have. I think I even checked Amica a while back. I find that insurance rate competitiveness varies by your situation, meaning one company is cheaper for younger drivers, others are cheaper for multiple cars, etc...
I had a claim with Progressive and they were great. They never tried to get out of paying anything. I dropped my car off at their repair center and they provided great service, (although they forgot to put headlight washers in the first time around). Their website is great to access acccount info, pay bills, even get recall and service info. I also like to support Progressive because they're from Cleveland, (my hometown), and I have a friend that works there.
I live in Michigan, (a no fault insurance state), and I pay about $1,200 for the year for two cars and only one driver. I agree with Rod that the rates should depend on how many cars can be driven at one time, not the number of vehicles, but I guess there's nothing we can do about that.
I once had a bad experience with State Farm who criticized me for taking a rental car over a weekend while my car was getting fixed.
