suddenly come home to roost! This is great news for Saab and all Saab 9-3SS/SC/Convert owners.
Unfortunately, it shines a glaring bright light on what I have felt is an incredibly stupid decison GM implemented near the beginning of the 2005 model year. GM has removed almost all non-mandated safety equipment from its "popularly priced" vehicles. Anti-lock brakes are optional, side curtain air bags are optional, electronic stability control is optional, etc.
People who question my decision to purchase Saabs are dumbfounded (and probably disbelieving) when I tell them that a Saab is LESS expensive than a Chevy after you add in the cost of optional safety features on the Chevy that are standard on the Saab! GM has bought back a few new cars from owners who screamed "deceptive practices" when they learned their new models contained fewer safety features than their identical model older car which they traded in.
Maybe the sudden exclusion of domestic nameplates from this list will shake some sense into the folks who signed off on deleting this equipment. As much as many Saab owners hate GM, if GM fails - regrettably, so will Saab.
