Check the type and ends of the cable running through the house. Did the sparky (electrician) run the cable in your house? Is it more than 10 years old? Most older houses have RG59 cable, worked great back in the day with analog service, but sometimes causes a problem with the digital service. Today, a good quality cable is RG6 quad shield. Also check the ends of the cable, the "F" connectors. For a good quality connection, should be a compression type - the sleeve around the cable is totally round with no crimps. The older style is a crimp connection, which will work if done properly. I've seen these crimped with a pair of pliers and all the copper shielding hanging out - NOT the way to do it, blame the electrician for this one. Spend the $20 and get the proper tool. You should also not be able to see the copper or silver shield. Also get a good quality splitter. Channel Plus brand is decent. Limit your splitter to one or two if necessary, place it in a central location, and only connect the television jacks you use. Try an amp but keep the receipt and packing, sometimes these work, other times they are a waste of money.
