I would say the BCS worked. The computers returned Michigan and Florida as equals with a score of .940. Florida has been consitantly ranked 4 by the computers all season long and winning the SEC division gave them the boost to match Michigan. Many say that the SEC division is the hardest to win with 5 teams finishing in the top 25 and 9 teams finishing bowl eligable 11 of which have 7 or more wins. Many argue that if USC had won this would not be an issue, but the real question should be if USC had won would Florida become 3rd and Michigan 4th? It doesn't seem to be a problem with the computer this year, it is the humans voting which allowed Florida to become a definitive 2nd. I personally do not belive that there should be rematch games and Florida seems like a resonable choice to play Ohio. Personally it seems like Ohio should just be given the National title this year and Michigan and Florida should play to determine who is the second best team.
