OT: Mozilla/Firefox Security Vulnerability??? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 5 Jan 2007 09:33:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
All employees here today received an urgent message requiring them to immediately remove Mozilla/Firefox browsers from company computers. The stated reason is that this browser was recently identified to contain a severe security vulnerability.
I have been described in the past by my supervisor as being a cynical old bas***d (great relationship, huh?) so I am somewhat distrustful of this claim and believe it is probably linked to an exclusivity clause with MicroSoft which gives my employer better pricing on InternetExplorer.
Has anyone else heard of this?
I don't use Mozilla/Friefox here at work, but all machines will be remotely scanned for copies of the software, which will then be deleted. The possibly of employment consequences for the employees using PC's with Mozilla/Firefox was strongly hinted without being stated.
