Anyone Ever Use A Bowflex? Worthwhile?

Back when I was in college I used to go to the gym everyday and played on the then 1st season D3 soccer team. At one point I weighed 175 and max benched 280...since then I've been working too much and slacking in the health department but I want to fix that.
I'm not too interested in spending the time/drive to go to a local gym (or the gossip), and would like to be able to do some circuits at home. Currently own zero freeweights/equipment. I've thought about getting a decent dumbell set and an incline/decline/flat bench...but that only handles upperbody and I'd like to keep my garage as free as possible. Also, girlfriend would probably come over to use whatever I get too.
I found some used Bowflexes on eBay/Craigs for around $500-800. Worthwhile? I hate running btw, and my knees don't like it anyway.
I've never touched a Bowflex but they look like a pretty good compromise(?). Any thoughts/suggestions?
