It is surprising they don't have previous addresses especially if associated with credit. I don't think employer data is that common on credit reports although I guess it does have potential to show up there.

Equifax in particular does a lot more than just credit reporting. They are a huge data company. They are only releasing information relevant and normally used for credit. The law doesn't necessarily require them to release most of the data they might have on you.

One of the other DBs they run is CLUE for Home/Auto insurance claims (insurance companies report claims and other information). They do (or did) life insurance policy research/testing and even own (or did own) medical labs for the testing. There is a lot more too.

I am fighting with these idiots to correct an error concerning an old credit account. Every month they indicate the account was closed that month. It has been closed for years; so long in fact it shouldn't even show up on the report any longer. In fact so long that the original creditor has purged the close date from their system. So right now Equifax reports it closed as of DEC 2006. If I contact them next month they will tell me Jan 2007 and on and on unless it gets cleared up first. This cost me a few extra dollars on my auto insurance.

BTW this company with potentially a lot of private information on each of us lost the names and SS numbers of about half their employees last year. Inspires confidence doesn't it?
