Ditigal cameras: Panasonic FX01: Noise

A while back, after much due dilligence, I purcahsed a Panasonic FX01 digital camera to replace the Sony P100 that suffered a fatal lens motor malfunction and called it quits. The main debate with this camera, at the time of purchase when it was a rather new model, was as follows.
Is the great wide angle feature (28mm vs 35mm) enough to overcome the CCD sensor shortcomings? From what I gathered the noise, common with most ultra compact cameras and proportional to the actual physical size of the sensor, was to be expected and would not be a problem unless I planned to print blown up images. I finally got around to using the camera and I don't know if I have super-vision but the noise (blurry and purle specs) is visible to me in all formats; 4X6, viefinder X2 on screen....
I LOVE the increased stage the 28mm affords, the optical stabilizer and the great LCD but am really bummed out about the quality of my indoor images...and thinking about selling it taking the hit and buying another point and shoot DSC series from Sony....
Does anyone have a panasonic FX series camera? Thoughts?
