With identity fraud, and credit card fraud, through the roof CC companies are reequiring CCV/CVC three digit codes at puchase. I've routinely inputted this number on order forms from a bunch of merchants. Just business. Amex CCV/CVC codes are four digits long... this number will not IMPRINT on a manual CC machine, so if someone steals your credit card number from a trash bin at a local department store or something he will have all your info, except for the CCV/CVC number...that's the point of this whole excercise. Your merchant does not set the rules, VISA does. even though he may like you and know you personally the transaction will not go through....
