Interesting question. When I proposed to my wife, I had already purchased a ring. I didn't like the ring, though. My fiancee and I went searching for rings in a variety of stores. We chose a store that had Jeff Cooper rings. His rings were the style she liked. Once the ring was finalized, we chose the stone. As you know, this process is much harder. We went through many stones that were near our budget. We determined our budget for the stone by subracting the cost of the ring from the total budget. We compared two rings having basically the same specs except for color. One had less yellow in it. Under the great lighting of the store, it was easy to see the difference. Would it be easier to see the difference later? I'm not so sure. My fiancee decided to go with the less expensive stone, in order to fit our budget.
