...and it is not that far a mental leap to realize that the starter cable runs straight to the battery.
If you are really stuck and can't reach the starter, find the thick red cable, strip 1/2 inch and clamp the charger to that. Then come back and paint with liquid insulator and then wrap with electrical tape and then wrap with duct tape and hold the duct tape closed with several zip ties.
Oldsaab, with all due respect, this is not rocket science. I think you are making this sound more difficult than it is.
