I saw this posted and I totally agree....
Although I know the story of Lt. O'Hare, recently I stopped to read about his story at the exhibit with a plane of the same type that he flew at ORD. It's located between the United Terminal and the old finger concourse (E?)
Local aviation heros are whom airport should be named, not politicians, especially ones that had nothing to do with the airport. For example, Prez Reagan is widely admired, but what did he do to Washington National. Besides, National already had a name, i.e. "Washington", named after George, the father of our country. An airport near Simi Valley might be a different story.
Jacksonville International Airport (Florida) should be renamed Speicher Airport (or Speicher International Airport). Actually, using "international" for a city with little or no international service makes a fine airport look like a joke but that's a different question.
Scott Speicher was a naval aviator, like O'Hare, who was shot down in 1991 and possibly taken prisoner by Sadda-. There is some evidence that he may have written his initials on the wall in a Ira-- military prison.

might be someone to contact and support the name
"Speicher International Airport" (as a fight to delete "international" might be counterproductive).
Whether or not you like.........is NOT the question. Speicher fought to liberate Kuwait after Saddam invaded the country. Even France, Egypt, and Syria sent well over 50,000 troops (maybe more like 80,000?) and few people were in favor of the Saddam takeover of Kuwait.
Speicher International Airport is the name to support!
