The Bose are great. I also prefer covering the ear style (big) rather than the on top of your ear (small) style. Bose makes both. More companies make the small style.
Let me know who makes the big style.
I bought a no-name small style for less than US$100, possibly $69. It was nearly as good but much cheaper. Unfortunately, I left them on US Airways and someone stole them rather than return it to lost and found.
Bottom line: Bose are like Porsches and the cheapest ones are like Saabs. Both will get you there and the Saabs can reasonably claim good road performance. Bose costs much more and you get only a tad more.
