I test drove S60's, bought an '04 9-5 instead Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Fri, 4 May 2007 19:37:59 In Reply to: Not so much any more., Craig, Fri, 4 May 2007 07:11:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The rear seat was an unexpected let down given the class of the vehicle. It was not the leg room so much as the head room. I simply do not believe the stats you posted, or there is more to it then a simple inch measurement, perhaps seat angle or glass angle. I'd go with the angle of the glass as I remember thinking if they had just extended the roofline another inch or 3 it would have been no problem! I have no problems in the back of a 9-3SS. At all. The s60 reminded me of my friends 2001 Jetta, my head hit the rear glass. Scary. I couldn't believe it was a Volvo! I am 5'11" and with many tall friends. Unacceptable for a car that big and designed by tall swedes!
As far as driving, I was also disappointed. There was no feedback to the driver in a turn, a straight, anything. I felt totally disconnected from the road in a way I hadn't felt since I sold my Playstation. Maybe some people like this.
I did not drive the S60R. I'd like too! Price and fuel economy was a factor for me.
I bought a '04 Certified 9-5 with 7400 miles on it for 24,000 instead. 42000 miles on it now and I've never looked back.
Good luck what ever you decide!
