Unfortunately the reason most of us would not buy un-certified is that there are so many known problems (known to us) and they are so expensive to fix. I bought a certified car and was happy because it needed a new head gasket and a few other things so I got my money back on it. I like my car but I noticed from looking at the workup at the dealer before I bought it that they had installed brand new headlight and foglight assemblies and a new front lower spoiler. later I noticed that the insulation under the hood was gone and it was replaced at no charge. Seemed to me it had been in a minor wreck at least even though there was a clean carfax. Then the price for CPO was good. Now certified seems more expensive. Too expensive compared to going to a reputable used car place. I paid a little less than 1/2 the cost of a new one for a three year old CPO. In '06 I bought a very nice new 9-3 ARC because they wanted about 3/4 the price of new for a used linear. New car prices have gone down and CPO have gone up.
