...the pain never goes away, but it becomes bearable.
Be strong. Remember the good and the great, and let go of anything else.
Make no decisions of importance right now. I might suggest letting someone else drive you to SOC. You are under stress, you will not sleep properly, and you will at times not be yourself. You will at times drive aggressively and at other times not be 100%.
I lived through this and I remember it vividly. I am sorry you too will go through it. Just remember that you had him as a dad and a friend during the best years of his and your lives. You will always have that. Remember that he wants you to get through this.
Don't be bummed at your mom, even though that is a natural reaction. The surviving parent always gets blamed on some level. Just be aware of this so you can stop it before it begins. No one could have predicted this, and divorce is so normal that it is even mentioned in Leviticus. Be there to support her, as no doubt she will be profoundly sad. Divorce does not sever love and strong feelings.
