I did that. Then the oil light came on. Then took off the pan. Put it back together. Too late. Should have taken the pan off first. Motor wasted. Not sure if just cleaning the pan would have fixed the problem though. There is a link about this. You can read and decide for yourself what action to take. If I had it all over to do again I would do it differently, live and learn.
