I had sprint for quite some time for my work phone. At the time we had 2 options for work phones: sprint or sbc/att/cingular. Sprint was the better deal when I lived in Cleveland, and it worked well.
I moved to CA and sprint worked fine in my apartment (lived there 6 months while researching places to buy). When we bought a condo, Sprint simply didn't work at the new digs. Cingular (now AT&T) worked like a champ, so I switched. Added bonus is that I got a quadband Motorola phone with a international plan. At the same time of my condo purchase, I started doing more business out of North America. The Cingular plan and Motorola phone worked well in China, South Africa, and Europe. I carry a cheap Nokia now, but I break out the Motorola (which I really don't like) when the Nokia doesn't work - basically in China. In Japan I have a DoCoMo phone (Japan only). My dream is a Non-North American Nokia N73 (so it has video calling and extras that NA N73's don't have). It works globally including Japan. If my boss lets me buy one, perhaps I'll order one from Hong Kong (or get one when I'm in HK next).
As for the iPhone... I use a Creative 60GB mp3 player, and I quit using Mac in 1992 (started in 1985 on a Mac 512). Mac was cool, but I'm not a fan anymore... I prefer the Creative the the Ipod. Bottom line, I'm not in the Apple cult.
I just don't see the need for such a crazy phone. First, no tactile buttons. When I'm driving, I need tactile buttons for answering or making calls. I've seen touchscreen phones for years in China, and they simply don't appeal to me. As a PDA device, maybe, but at as phone, no.
All I want is my Nokia 3120 phone to do:
1. Bigger Phonebook
2. Quadband
3. Japan band (whatever that is)
I don't need web, video calls, mp3 player, email, youtube, etc. Just a truly global phone would be nice.
My next mp3 player will be 80gb plus. Can iPhone do that?
Randy
