before using any solvent. If you can still see the crayon marks after that, use some auto scratch remover.
This is 9000 Saab black color correct ? So it's not clear-coated paint, when you use any cleaner wax or mild abrasive polish, whatever cloth you use to do the cleaning will have black paint rubbed off (that's what you want).
Is the "new" hood from a 1995 or later car ? If so, the black paint should be thick enough to buff out the crayon marks.
