I read on here a lot about your experiences with insurance companies, so I thought I would share this one with you.
I was hit in the rear by someone a couple of weeks ago in my car (not my wifes 900 thankfully) and they ran off. Luckily, we found them and got their insurance info. Nationwide (their insurance) payed for the repairs to the car with no problem, however I needed new glasses as a result of the accident. The impact of the hit made my glasses fly off and now they have this nice scratch right down the middle. Nationwide gave me the check to get new ones and I went to Walmart to order my new ones. I thought I would just sign the check and give it to the store, but they wanted me to take it to the service desk to get it cashed first. Would you believe that the Nationwide check was denied! I called the number they provided and it seems that Nationwide has outstanding checks! I was shocked. So I took it to the local bank to cash it and they did, but they charge a 5 dollar fee even though the check was written on an account at that bank.
My question is: Should I go back to the agent and get my 5 dollar check cashing fee back?
