The risk as I understand it is that by subscribing to a forum such as this, you build an online personality that has ALL of its content available forever. If some anonamous creep targets you, he has half his work completed for himself, just because now he has a description of your vehicle, and he may be able to piece together addtional information from other sites. Though I try to be careful, there's probably enough info I've supplied here in just a few postings to tie me to another site where I'm the 3rd highest volume poster, -meaning there's a lot more info on me out there, like exactly what city area I live in, photos, -albeit bad ones, -hey no smilies here?! :) etc. Not that I care, but just in googling my first name and saab I got a hit to the other site, albeit # 10000 something, -my name is common in Sweden! :)
I'm amazed at just how much info about me in the form of online profiles is passed on from the magazines I occasionally shoot freelance for.
I'm not normally a parinoid person, but a friend of mine in the US State department told me he'd never reveal his plate number to ANYONE unless that person saw it in person. Here, I've seen that a number of you don't seem to have the slightest concern, so I was wondering if all that cloak 'n dagger stuff was finally getting to my friend.
