Hi everyone,
I need some alternatives for a Brooklyn (or lower Manhattan) mechanic. I live in Cobble Hill and usually go to Roland of Swedish Saab. The problem is, he's gotten so popular that he's unable to work on my car for weeks, even in case of emergency, and he doesn't take credit cards. He's a great mechanic and very honest -- but with an old car I need to find someone that can work on an emergency in a timely manner. I've worked a lot with Keal Evans in Norwalk, CT. He's great,, but far from Brookyn and not open weekends, which is usually the only time I can drive out there.
I actually live one block away from a place called Alfa Motors of Brooklyn which has some good reviews on Cartalk.com. I've also heard vague references to Mitchell's, Rocco's, and P&J (who I couldn't find any contact info for at all). I also heard something about a guy who works from home in Queens?
Mostly I am looking for someone who will be honest with reasonable prices, take credit cards, and close to a subway line. I don't mind if it takes a day or two, as I don't use the car every day. I'm a student, so low rates are helpful.
Also, right now there are no posted listings under mechanics for anyone BUT Roland, which seems a little silly. I mean he's great, but...
