But a clogged shower head wouldn't have an affect on the basement sink too... Do you have city water or a well? We have a well that pumps water into a storage tank (not heated) with a rubber bladder at the top of it. The bladder has air in it to create the water pressure. We have an oil furnace that heats the water on demand rather than a water heater tank. There have been a couple instances where that bladder gets low and we lose water pressure. A simple bicycle pump can be plugged in to blow it back up. Just a suggestion for you, but I'm not really sure why this would cause the hot water pressure to be different than the cold.
