Having looked at a number of CPO'd 9-7x's in the past few weeks, the standards are amazingly different among dealers.
At one dealer they all looked brand new -- cleaned up, polished, no signs of scrapes on the bumpers, all teh emblems in good shape, etc.
But at most dealers, I got the impression the cars were on the lot -- and a long way from being CPO. Several had tires down to the wear indicators. One I took for a drive and clearly the front brakes were shot. One had a radio that didn't work. One had a quite broken off cupholder. Several had large dings, the kind I would have expected the dealers to have paintless dent removal done.
At one dealer I mentioned the deficiencies, and the comeback was, "if we do those things, do we have a deal?" (NOT!)
I would have thought the reconditioning would have been done before the cars hit the lot. But perhaps some dealers don't want to sink more $$ into the cars until they have a sale.
