I'll drive 5K from Boston to Northern VT, basicaly RT on weekends to ski. Maybe the same around Boston West during the week. Dirt roads and drives, twisty roads, lots of hills including the "access roads" to the mountain (mostly Sugarbush). If it is snowing I expect 2-4" on the roads when I get off the highway Friday night or aroud town Saturday night, and easily drive 20 plus miles in it. They don't plow much at night where I go. While I prefer to make it up the driveway, I want to make it TO the driveway. Studs were great when I lived there all season (oh do I miss those days of fresh weekday powda skiing), but I killed them in one season on the highway (to be fair they were not new at that point). That was a 9K, this is a 9-5 Aero with 16" wheels for winter.
Oh, and I also need to deal with the slush, ice and nuts in Boston.
Noise and mileage are irrelevant. Handeling is minor, tracion is important, getting to the lift (safely) is essential.
Walnuts, silica, supperglue, sno-bots. What tires do ya like????
Thanks....Steven
