seating position height

I've been experimenting with a higher seating position. What is the thinking on this in terms of safety, driving position, emergency maneuvering, entry/exit, etc?
I had the seat near the bottom of the adjustment range as I am tall, but I am now trying it near the top. Visibility seems better (but was good before), the mirror blocks more of my line of sight, thighs seem better supported, might not be a safe in a side impact or rollover and it would stress the seat mechanism more, perhaps to the point of failure, armrests are a bit low now, and probably some other things I can’t think of right now.
