Swedecar was the first to report it was possible to diagnose an electrically failing fuel pump using an oscilloscope, but bobc posted a pictorial "how-to" just yesterday.
A presure gage on the engine's fuel rail can also be used to diagnose a fuel pump which is producing insufficient pressure.
