...like that their oil wil go 25K between changes. At least, that's what the Amsoil resellers keep telling me. One issue I have with it is that anyone I run into "higly recommending it" it is always "selling it". In addition, I haven't seen any scientific evidence that the levels of impurities that accumulate in Amsoil are any different than in other oils (although I confess to not looking too hard). You might want to check with http://wwww.bobistheoilguy.com/ for a lot of detailed discussion and probably that evidence (one way or the other) that I've never seen.
Subjective stuff aside, you drive mostly highway miles, which is actually better for oil as it burns off all the condensation. Short trips are harder on oil. The primary reason they used to suggest 3 month changes (as in "3 months or 3000 miles") was that short trips will throw a lot of impurities and moisture into oil - three months was seen as a safety valce for people who don't hit 3K miles.
If your oil degrades, you are risking sludge problems (newer Saabs have issues with that) and possible turbo problems if the oil is degraded. Considering the minor cost of an oil change and the major cost of engine repair, oil changes are cheap insurance. I'd suggest you do two changes a year at roughly 5K or 6 month intervals. Safe, inexpensive, you can't really lose.
