AARP Insurance -- can do better

I used to belong to AARP but quit when they backed that insufficient Medicare drug plan. My auto insurance rates went up (too much, I thought) when I got a new car so I shopped for insurance.
My old carrier was charging about $1732 per year. AARP/Hartford quoted $1410, which sounded pertty good, until I shopped some more. A few others were about the same rate as AARP/Hartford, but many were higher.
But I found two carriers that were substantially lower: Esurance was $1,182 and Wawanesa General was $1,143 -- $267 less than AARP.
I'm going with Wawanesa. A colleague at work has it and is very happy. It is a Canadian company and, in the United States, only sells auto insurance in California and Oregon. A.M. Best rates it A+. Esurance is sold nationwide, I believe.
