We have one in our apartment at school. It's comfy, serviceable, and very durable. One of our roommates easily weighs 375lb, and he's broken other furniture before, but he hasn't broken the POANG yet.
I've had great experiences with other IKEA stuff, too. When I moved off campus last year, we filled our apartment with IKEA crap, even the cool lights and stuff that they sell. It's all held up very well. I bought a bureau that was excellent, and a bunch of little tables and stuff. They're great because you can literally dump a beer out on it, and it will just wipe right off. I also have a big desk with a glass top and little file cabinet which, I think, is VERY good quality. It's extremely stable and has great storage and utility.
So, in short, get the chair! And get some other stuff while you're there.
