I own a small trucking fleet and luckily we are only at 3.69 here in Albuquerque but its still climbing. Diesel is up about 1.25 over this time last year, up .22 over three weeks ago and up .37 since first of year. Killing my profits. Im a local company and cant really compete with the "big boys" as far as price goes so I have had to really trim my margins to stay competetive but in the next few weeks my prices will increase to stay profitable.
On a side note noticed that a dozen eggs were up to 1.92 today at the local market. Thanks to diesel prices of course.
The car and driver article is very interseting and sheds alot of light on the why behind the increase of diesel prices. The magazine is currently in my truck so tomorrow I will get it and reread it.
Basically it boils down to refining methods and not enough supply.
New CAFE regulations could force it even higher.
